Kathleen Braswell
This is my fourth year teaching at MVPS, but my first in Second Grade. I am
so excited to be in Second Grade! I graduated from UGA with an economics
degree and from Georgia State with my education degree and Masters in
Education.
I am married to Mike, and we have four boys. All the boys also attend MVPS.
Ryan is in 8th Grade, Chris is in 6th Grade, Scott is in 3rd Grade, and
last, but not least, Jack is in Pre-K. I am looking forward to a great year.
Lindsay Griffin
I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated from Lynn
University in Boca Raton, Florida. I obtained my BA in Education and have
taught in Florida for the past four years. During my time in Florida, I
taught kindergarten in Palm Beach County. I have recently moved back to
Atlanta and am proud to be a part of Mount Vernon.
Linda Kauffman
I am happy to start my second year at MVPS as a Second Grade Teacher. As
some of you know, I taught First Grade last year. It will be exciting to
take your children to the next level in the subjects they studied in First
Grade.
After receiving my degree in Education, I taught First Grade and Elementary
Art. My experience was expanded when I began teaching university-level
courses in education, in Ohio and at the College of Charleston, after I
received my Masters degree. I eventually returned to the classroom to head
up the kindergarten literacy program in Charleston (really Summerville),
South Carolina, for five years.
We are all, in Second Grade, looking forward to a great year!
Melissa Rothbard
This is my first year at MVPS. I have taught a variety of grades over my 13-
year teaching career, including two years of teaching English in Eritrea,
Africa with the U.S. Peace Corps.
I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a BA in Psychology. I got
my teaching certification through California State University-Long Beach. I
am married to Jason, and we have two children. Kira is 9 years old, and
Kolby is six. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.
