Announcements!

~Valentine's Day is almost here! Don't forget to make a card for everyone.
This will be such a fun day for all! Can't wait!

~Book Reports are due!!! Finally, we get to see all the hard work! Don't
worry about being nervous when presenting. If you need me or a friend to help
you or stand with you for comfort, we will. I want this to be a fun and
relaxed time for everyone. I do realize that this may be the first time
presenting for some of you, but it will be great and so will you. You will be
among friends and there is no safer place to be! Good luck!!

~Yeah! Monday is the last day for our persuasive writing piece. You are all
doing such a great job. We will begin narrative writing this week. I was very
pleased to hear from the majority of you that writing has become easier. I
knew you would come around! Once you understand why you write and that you
have structure, it is so muuch easier to form any kind of writing piece.

~Feb. 24 is our trip to the Tellus Museum. We are continuing to learn all
about rocks and minerals. Please continue to do your chapter assignments and
participate in all the fun assignments. Ths unit really is exciting. I was so
thrilled when some of you began to look at rocks differently and suggest what
kind of rock you had in your collection. Way to go Grant for pointing out
that you had a sedimentary rock!! Thanks to Santi for sharing your collection
with us and giving us a rock/gem of our very own!

~Thanks to Ms. Mak's challenge group. Your tall tales are incredible. I loved
that you used exaggerations and similies in your writing. Parents, they will
be posted outside our room throughout the week. Please come by and read them.
They really are great and showcase our students' imaginations! Way to go with
that writing piece too!!

~We will take the Mid-Year Math Assessment this week during class. It will
consist of Units 1-6. The students will not receive a study guide as these
are concepts that have been intruduced and should be mastered at this time.
In addition, we will also begin Unit 7 in math.

~Our Read-a-thon celebration will happen Thursday, Feb. 16. Everyone will be
celebrated for the exceptional job of reading and working towards your
individual goal. I love that everyone participated. You collaborated as a
group and met your goals. Great job!!!

~Our time goes by so quickly, as we discussed in class. We realized that I
only have you as a group less than 3 hours a day, which means you have to
come to school prepared and put forth 110% every day! You must do your part
in order to be successful! I appreciate everyone working hard every minute of
the day. Thank you!!!

~Don't forget to blog!!!! 8 more points!!!
