*SPELLING INFORMATION:
In the past two weeks, I have received numerous questions about the spelling
words and tests. Your child should be well aware of our spelling routine and
expectations, as we have been working on spelling since we came back from the
winter break. For anyone who missed this information on the blog in January,
here's what you need to know:
-Spelling tests will be on Thursdays, every other week.
-Each week students will practice the spelling words at school on Monday and
Tuesday, and students will take their spelling words home on Tuesday
afternoon. The spelling words are from the Words Their Way sort book.
-Words can be viewed online at www.spellingcity.com. To access this website
visit the Tritt website, click on 2nd grade, click on web favorites, click on
second grade spelling words (this will take you to www.spellingcity.com).
-Each week I will post the sort number on the blog. If we have no sort for
the week, I will post "No sort this week."
-Your child is expected to complete one spelling homework activity each week
that we have a sort. A yellow spelling menu came home in January, with
options for your child to choose from. Homework should not be turned into
school, but should be checked over by a parent.
-I will re-test students who earn less than 80% on the test.
-I "RE" re-viewed all of these directions with the class today. If you have
questions about the spelling words or tests, please ask your child first.
You'd be surprised how great they are at repeating the directions! :)
*There will be no word sort this week. (No spelling test.)
*Please be sure to send all transportation changes to the office. You can fax
or call the school, and the front office will notify me of the change by the
end of the day. If I have an unexpected absense and I have a substitute
teacher, she will not have access to my e-mail, and therefore will not be
aware of the transportation change. I appreciate your help with this!
*Our class will be going to the Cobb Energy Center next Friday (Feb. 17th),
to see Snow White. We will be gone from 9-12. Your child still needs a snack,
and we will be back in time for our regular lunch.
*There will be no Target on Friday due to our field trip.
*We will be exchanging Valentines on Tuesday (2/14). Please remember, if your
child chooses to bring in valentines, he/she must have one for each student
in our class. Please remind your child to bring in his/her decorated bag or
shoebox to collect their valentines in.
*Thank you for checking the blog!! Jot down a note that says "I checked the
blog yesterday." and send it to school with your child tomorrow (2/14).
Anyone with this note will earn two tickets!

*We have had a few cold days here at school this week. Your child must have a
jacket to go out to recess. Even on chilly days, we try to run around outside
for at least 5 or 10 minutes. If your child does not have a jacket, he/she
will not be able to come out with us.
Per Cobb County:
Cold Weather Guidelines:
When the outside temperature or wind chill factor is 40 degrees or below:
a. PE Classes should remain indoors.
b. Classroom teachers may take students outside for a break of not more
than 15 minutes and students must wear appropriate clothing.
