Off Campus Programs

 

Listed below are programs, classes, and other opportunities available for students on various college campuses, military acadamies, etc.

 

  1. Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program (PSEOP) through the University of Cincinnati.  High school students may enroll for college classes for college credit.  The student is responsible for tuition, fees and book expenses.  Visit www.admissions.uc.edu/PSEOP for application and information.
  2. Junior Statesmen Foundation 2008 Summer Programs.  "A rare opportunity for passionate students to experience the American political process first-hand."  Programs available at Georgetown University, Yale University, Princeton University and Stanford University.  Visit www.jsa.org for information.
  3. Western Kentucky University Center for Gifted Students - two different programs for 6th - 10th grade students.  Visit www.wku.edu/gifted to view a video highlighting the programs and for applications.
  4. Georgetown College Pre-College Academic Experience in Mathematics and Science, June 22 - July 4 $700.  Download application and get information at www.georgetowncollege.edu/departments/PAEMS
  5. Xavier University offers several options for current high school juniors.  Visit www.xavier.edu/summersessions for information.SMARTER Learning Systems Summer Session, June 9 - August 15.  Call 341-7326 for information, scheduling and registration.  Stefanie Parker is an Educational Specialist with over 30 years of experience.  She will offer private sessions tailored to your students needs and she will be offering workshops on various topics.  Both will help your student sharpen/maintain/improve skills over the summer to be ready for school in the fall.
  6. Northern Kentucky University World Language Programs - 1.  Kentucky Young Linguist Program for rising juniors and seniors. Must meet NKU's Early Enrollment Program.  Earn College Credit.  Visit http://www.nku.edu/~admitnku/earlyadmit/earlyadmitapp.pdf for application then contact Dr. Leech @ leech@nku.edu or 859.572.5514 to enroll in elementary Arabic, Chinese or German.  2.  World Language Day Camp - July 21 - 25, 9 am - 12 noon at NKU's Covington Campus.  Visit http://www.nku.edu/~worldlang.
  7. Pathways to Nursing Summer Nurse Camp at Northern Kentucky University - June 16 - June 19.  Deadline if June 9th and space is limited.  Application materials are available online through NKU at http://www.nku.edu/~nhp/SAVE/application.pdf
  8. Cincinnati Children's Hospital has two ways students can observe:  Job Shadowing or through the Center of Professional  Excellence.  For the Job Shadowing Program visit www.cincinnatichildrens.org/job-shadow.  If this doesn't work, you may schedule yourself for the Interdisciplinary policy IP-B07:Students and Observers at CCHMC - contact CCHMC for further details about these programs.
  9. Gateway Community and Technical College's Boone County Campus is hosting their annual Advanced Manufacturing Summer Camp on June 9th and 10th from 9 am - 2 pm.  The camp is free and open to all high school students.  Interested students need to get an application from Mrs. Dickens - deadline is June 1.
