Week of November 9, 2009
This week we are learning:
Language Arts – Unit 3 – Let’s Connect
Review Week – Kate’s Game
Skills – *We are moving on along into our 3rd Reader. Look for new Spelling and Reading list, along with Homework Choices.
Long A, verbs, capitalization, and punctuation, summarizing, sequencing events, and finding the main idea. Our reading materials come from the Guaranteed Parish Curriculum and Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Treasures Collection.
Math – We will complete subtraction strategies in Chapter 4. Students are now using problem solving strategies to choose an operation. Also we are mixing addition and subtraction facts with fact families. Important Word list has been added to your child’s Math section in the binder. Fact test continue on Thursdays. Our lessons are part of the Guaranteed Parish Curriculum. Our math book is published by Scott Foresman. We also use the programs Everyday Counts, Today’s Math and Investigations.
Social Studies/Science – We will continue with the study of My Country, My Friends, and Thanksgiving. Supplies are being requested for our Friendship Day. Items are due on Wednesday, Nov. 18th. Our units are taken from the state’s curriculum along with some units that correspond with the Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Treasures Collection.
