Due December 3rd: Bring Mango St. to class. Be ready to "jigsaw" with your poetry schools projects.
Due Dec. 2nd: Bring Mango St. to class. Bring your poet project stuff to class so you can submit it during class. Remember-one copy to turnitin.com without a graphic, one copy with a graphic emailed to me at kechance@caddo.k12.la.us. Be good for the substitute! Due December 1st: Do the blog about Mango St. Remember you have to post and respond. Work on your poet school project as necessary. Due Thursday, Nov. 20th and Friday Nov. 21st: Bring your research materials to class (notecards, flashdrives, etc.) (1st and 4th) 6th period: Friday Nov. 21st: Write 10 Socratic seminar questions on Mango St. through p. 48. Today we will have a Socratic seminar on the topic of "How does Mango Street illustrate the experience of adolesence?"
Due Tuesday, Nov. 18th: Bring Mango St to class. Work on your group's assigned chapter as needed. Due Wednesday, Nov. 19th: Write 10 Socratic seminar questions on Mango St. through p. 48. Today we will have a Socratic seminar on the topic of "How does Mango Street illustrate the experience of adolesence?"

Due Friday, Nov. 14th: Work on the DIDLS analysis of "Laughter." We will pool our ideas together in class on Friday. Bring Mango St and your AR book today. Wednesday, Nov. 12th: Bring your textbook and your copy of The House on Mango Street to class today. Due Friday, Nov. 7th: Bring your AR book, reading log, and textbook to class. Bring your notebook also for a notebook check. Due Thursday, Nov. 6th: Bring your textbook to class today for a book check for points! Don't forget to email me to reserve a copy of The House on Mango St. if you plan to check it out from me; otherwise you're on your own, and you need your copy in class on Nov. 10th. Due Wednesday, Nov. 5th: Your Maus test is today. Bring all of your completed chapter study guides to class today to turn in for points.
Due Monday, Nov. 3rd: Prepare points on both sides for the debate on the topic of "Should the voting age in the United States be lowered from age 18?" You may use any written notes during the debate. Also, check out the test review sheet for the Maus test, which will be posted in the handouts section by 1 pm on Saturday. Remember, the Maus test is the day after Election Day (Wednesday). Due Friday, Nov. 7th: Bring your AR books and reading logs to class today. I'm checking reading logs for points, and you will NOT be let out of class to go check out a book. You will also lose points if you are talking during AR time.
Due Friday, Oct. 31st: Study Maus study guides and Vocabulary Unit 4 (1st hour). 4th and 6th hour: study Maus study guides-the Maus quiz has been postponed until Friday. Due Wednesday, Oct. 29th: Bring Maus to class. Read Ch. 6 and fill out the study guide. Due Monday, Oct. 27th: Read Ch. 5 Maus and complete the study guide I gave you. Bring Maus to class. Keep studying Unit 4 vocabulary--we have a quiz on Thursday. 6th period: Work on your creative summaries of Maus--yours are due on Monday. I'm looking forward to them! Due Wednesday, Oct. 22nd: Fill out the study guide for Ch. 3. Review Chapters 1-3 for a quiz today. Monday, Oct. 19th: Bring Maus to class. Due Wednesday Oct. 15th: AR Points are due at 3:35 today. Bring Maus to class. Work on your power point as needed. Due Monday, Oct. 13th: Bring Maus to class so I can see that you have it. We'll still be in the library, though. Weekend of Oct 11-12: Research your genocide topic as needed. Due Friday, Oct. 10th: Nothing. Due Thursday, Oct. 9th: Nothing Due Wednesday, Oct. 8th: Your short story project. Don't forget it! Due Tuesday, Oct. 7th: Study for the short story unit test, which is today! Complete your group review work. Weekend of October 4th and 5th Work on the short story unit project. View the rubrics in the handouts folder. By Saturday evening, the short story unit test review will be posted in handouts. Print it out and begin working on it. And sorry for the confusion--I had to run off to my graduate class this afternoon right after school so I did not have time to update the website until now. 6th period: Bring your essay outline to class so I can check it.

I am sorry that I could not be with you and that you did not get your outlines back. Your final draft will be due on Tuesday and we will peer edit on Monday.

Due to an outstanding debate, the "MDG" quiz for 1st hour has been postponed until tomorrow. Due Thursday Sept. 11th Characterization foldable-6th hour Due Tues. Sept. 9th Finish reading "The Most Dangerous Game" and plot the short story using the classic 5 elements. Include at least 2 details from the story for each element. Work on your "MDG" characterization foldable. Due Sept. 8: Read pp. 34-35 in "MDG" and write one entry in the blog section on this website. DON'T put your whole name where it says "Name." Just put your initials. Go to the Vocabulary Workshop link in the web links folder and take notes on the definitions for Unit 1 using "iWords." Bring textbooks Monday. "The Lady or the Tiger" creative ending: 1-2 pages, typed, double-spaced; due the day we get back from hurricane weather (Thursday the 4th?) Also, go to the Response folder and answer the question. Your response will be emailed to me. Due Thursday the 4th.
