Master Sergeant (MSG) was born in Jacksonville, Fla. He is a retired 22 year
U.S. Army veteran. MSG Burton has been a High School ROTC instructor for 14
years. He holds an undergraduate degree from Northwestern State University at
Louisiana (Bachelor in General Studies w/minor concentration in Social
Science). MSG Burton also has a Masters in Art degree (National Security
Studies w/concentration in the Middle East). He is the team coach/sponsor for
Northwood High School ROTC Blazer Team (an outdoor leadership training
program. MSG Burton is an avid Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, and Florida
Gators fan. His favorite hobbies include:tennis,camping,canoeing,and hiking.
He enjoys reading current events, political journals, and international
relations periodicals. MSG Burton enjoys listening to a variety of Rock,
Pop, Contemporary Jazz, Motown R&B such as: Sting/Police, Steely Dan, Eagles,
The Who, Doobie Brothers, Marvin Gaye, George Benson, Al Green, Temptations,
Four Tops, Sade, Norah Jones, the Rippingtons, Richard Elliot, Mindi
Abair,etc. Among his favorite movies are: Gladiator, Heat, Lord of the
Rings, Star Trek, Star Wars. He enjoys watching some TV programs like:
House, CSI Miami, Man vs. Wild. His favorite actors include: John Wayne,
Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood. His favorite
visited places are Israel, Germany, Grand Canyon, and Yosimite National Park,
Ca. MSG Burton absolutely loves teaching outdoor wilderness survival skills,
land navigation, and map reading.
