General Information

*Water*

It is EXTREMELY important that children come to the program with a cold water bottle.  Many days are extremely warm, and children will be very active so they need to drink plenty of fluids to keep hydrated.  We recommend freezing a filled water bottle overnight so that the ice in the morning will melt gradually during the day.

*Clothing & Personal Belongings*

Children should come to the program dressed comfortably for the hot summer days.  We recommend that the children wear (or bring) sneakers each day.  If a child does not have on appropriate footwear, he/she may not be able to fully participate in certain phys. ed. games.  On the days that we plan to have water games, the children will be allowed to wear a bathing suit under their clothing if they prefer.  We will notify you of these days each week.  Children should also bring a hat.  Since we will spend time outside, we recommend that the students put sunscreen on at home each morning.

*Discipline*

Husky Hangout will follow the Code of Conduct and Discipline Policies outlined in the Haverhill School District Student Handbook.  All students are expected to participate in and follow the planned program, observe the daily routine, and follow the directions of his or her group leader or teacher.  We want all the children to have an enjoyable experience all summer long.

*Internet*

When the students are doing an activity in the computer lab, it may involve going on the internet.  If the internet is used, the following will apply.

  • Supervision will be provided at all times.
  • Activities will have a well-defined focus.
  • All searching activities will be done using age-appropriate search engines.
  • "Free surfing" will not be allowed.
