DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

Groups will be assigned a portion of the Declaration of Independence. Read 
and translate
each line of the Declaration into everyday language. Draw three pictures 
related to your section. - Look up words not understood. Be able to tell the 
class what Enlightenment philosopher's views were used in your groups' 
reading.

1 Lines 1-14 "A Declaration by the Representatives" - "Effect their safety 
and  happiness”

2. Lines 14-26 "Prudence indeed will dictate" - "Submitted to a candid world"

3. Lines 27-39 "He has refused" - "On the rights of people

4. Lines 40-57 "He has refused" - "To the civil power"

5. Lines 58-71 "He has combined" - "into the colonies"

6. Lines 72-83 "For taking away our charters" -head of a civilized nation"

 7. Lines 84-93 "He has excited" - "ruler of a free people"

8. Lines 94-102 "Nor have we been" - "in peace mends"

9. Lines 103-113 "We therefore - "our sacred honor"
