I was absent from Science Class today, What do I do?

MAKE-UP Work is the responsibility of the student. Students have the
same number of days to make-up assignments as days they miss. Before
turning in make-up assignments the student must have me initial the
assignment (after showing me their excused admit slip). There are no
make-up assignments for unexcused absences. Please ask a classmate
what the homework and classwork assignments were.
All handouts from the day are in the out folder with you name on it.

YES. Notebook quizzes (worth 10 points) will be given and an organized

Do I need a 3 ring binder for this class?

All students must keep notes, handouts, problems, assignments, and lab
reports in a suitable three-ring notebook. This will help when
studying for exams and quizzes. Notebooks should have the following
sections: Vocabulary, Objective & Drill, Labs, Notes/Handouts, Quizzes
and Tests,and Homework.
Being organized is very important. Students who tend to have a
seperate notebook for the class stay more organized than the student
who throws all of their papers into one large binder.

I got points taken off for my HW, why?

There is a correct homework format for your science class. All
homework must be in either blue or black INK.
Homework Format-
1. Name and section in the upper right hand corner.
2. Date due in the upper left corner.
3. Chapter number and assigned questions on the top line.
4. All answers in ink (Blue or Black), and legible.
5. Questions must appear as statements in the answer. Use complete
sentences.
6. Skip one space between each answer and each answer must be properly
numbered.

Section Review questions are frequently assigned from the textbook
with each section covered in class. Students need to hand write all
topic questions.

How is homework graded?

(Depending on the Assignment)
Homework Grading
10 points (generally)- If all directions are followed and the
answers checked are correct. Only one or two answers are checked, but
you won't know which ones they are until the papers are graded and
passed back. The same questions are graded for all students.
-3 points for not following one direction.
-2 points for not following a second direction.
-2 points for each wrong answer.
-5 points if incomplete-not all questions are answered.
Zero--if not handed in on due date for an unexcused reason.
Zero-if copied; both the copier and the person who allowed work to
be copied.
(This applies to all topic questions- at the end of each section)

There is also Quick Check (QC)--when the teacher asks the students to
get out their homework and checks for completion.

Not all HW is graded.
