Have a Question for Mrs. Bainbridge?

Do you have a question for Mrs. Bainbridge? See if I've answered it below!
If you still have a question, feel free to e-mail me!
  1. Did you get a grant for your "Thursday Book Bags"?
  2. Do you give your parents a copy of your "Procedure Handbook"?
  3. What program do you use to make your files?
  4. What fonts do you use for most of your files?
  5. How often do you change the "Must" and "May" do lists at your centers?
  6. What do you give your "Homework Club" each month?
  7. Can I use your ideas in my classroom or do I need permission first?
  8. Would you mind adding my site to your list of "Web Resources" for teachers?

Did you get a grant for your "Thursday Book Bags"?

No. I already had all of the books that I used in my classroom. My school
uses the AR program and I had hundreds of books that were NOT AR and kids
weren't reading them. I used those books to fill the bags. I actually had a
lot of the items that are in the bags too.

I purchased my bags at Wal-Mart and made the front of them on Microsoft Word
and then printed them on iron-on transfers. After buying the bags, iron-ons,
and extras for in the bags, I spent around $100.00 to complete this project.

I purchased most of the things that are in the bags from the Target dollar
section, the Dollar Tree, and clearance sections in different stores.

Do you give your parents a copy of your "Procedure Handbook"?

No. It is mainly for use in the classroom. I do send a letter outlining all
behavior related policies in the classroom and parents and students both sign
it the first week of school. However, the "Procedure Handbook" is a way for
us to make sure we are all following proper procedures and routines in the
classroom. If a child forgets HOW to do something, they are asked to look it
up in the handbook and find out how to correctly act in that situation.

The handbook is available at Open House night and any parent is certainly
welcome to look at it at any time.

What program do you use to make your files?

I use Microsoft Word for almost everything. Any file not made in Word is made
in Publisher. If you download a couple of cute fonts, you can do anything
with them!

What fonts do you use for most of your files?

My favorite fonts (which you can easily find if you do a search on Google) are
China Cat, Minya Nouvelle, BaaBook Hmk, WallowHMK, and IRONMAN. My two
favorite font sites where I get a lot of my fonts are Simply The Best Free Fonts and Fontica.

How often do you change the "Must" and "May" do lists at your centers?

The "must-do" changes every week, but usually I only have to place
different
words or a different book at the centers. I don't do a
completely NEW must do each week. That would be too much work for me and too
much re-learning for my students. The "may-do" lists do not change.
 All of
the materials for the "may-dos" are at each center. It's a great
way for kids
to differentiate for themselves and keep them learning when they have finished
the required activity.

What do you give your "Homework Club" each month?

At the end of the month, any child who is in the "Homework
Club" stays in from recess for about 5 minutes and we choose a reward
together. We had popcorn one month, once they chose to have 5 extra free
choice minutes, we had an ice cream party once... at the end of the year, I
had 12 kids who had NEVER missed a single day of homework. Those kids became
my "Homework Hall of Fame" and we had a pizza party!

Can I use your ideas in my classroom or do I need permission first?

Feel free to use anything you find on this site in your classroom or school.
You do not need to contact me to ask to use any files or ideas-
as long as it is in your classroom or school. However, if you post it on a
website, please post a link back to my site. You can even add my banner to
your site! It is attached below.

Please do not copy any formatting or wording on
this site without posting a link to my site. I have spent countless hours
developing this site to help support classroom learning at home and to help
other teachers with ideas in their classrooms. I thank you, in advance, for
respecting the work that I have put in to this site and I ask that you please
credit me for my ideas! Thanks! :)
