I have been teaching at RHS for the last seven years. Before that, I spent
twenty years as an Application Engineer at Tektronix. My job was to make
sure that the equipment Tektronix offered would actually do the customer's
job. This involved a lot of "real world" math!
Check out the Tektronix web site in the "Fun and Wierd Sites" section.
I have a son, now attending Northern Michigan University, and a
daughter, graduate of Hendrix College in Arkansas, now living in Austin, Texas
and pursuing a musical career. I also have the pleasure of a wonderful wife
for the last 35 years.
My current interests are road biking(+3000 miles a year), fast cross country
skiing, and recording music in my home studio.
1. As the world becomes more technology oriented math skills need to keep
pace with this acceleration. Not only do students need the basic
computational skills, they also need to think in logical and disciplined
ways. Math is one of the best ways to teach these concepts. I strive to
connectthese ways of thinking with the rest of their lives.
