Welcome Letter

Dear Parents:

Welcome to fourth grade at Ben D. Quinn Elementary!!  What a great year this is going to be!  It is my pleasure to be your child’s teacher this year, and be partners with you in their education.

Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.  My name is Lori Sanford, and I moved to New Bern last year from Michigan.  This is my eighth year of teaching, and my fourth year teaching fourth grade at BDQ.  I have previously taught one year of fifth grade, and three years of second grade Michigan.  I am really looking forward to another fabulous year at BDQ!  This is such a great age, and your child will be learning so much this year!

We have a lot of fun filled learning activities planned for this year that are hands-on and exciting.  I will also be keeping you informed on a weekly basis on the events going on in our classroom through our “Jellyfish Journal” News Note.  It will go home every Monday with all of the events going on that week in our classroom.  Our classroom this year also has a Beach Theme, so I am sure that your child will tell you all about our adventures.

I am also pleased to tell you that I have been hard at work this summer on our classroom website.  I hope that you can check it out prior to school starting and throughout the year to see some of the things that we have in store for us, and to see other activities that we will do as the year progresses.  There is even a special link for you, the parents!   Hopefully our website will be able to answer any questions or concerns that you have as well.  I will be using this website as a communication tool as well as a celebration of all of our adventures this year in room 407!

Feel free to contact me any time through e-mail, school phone, or my home phone.  I am always happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Again, it is my pleasure to be your child’s teacher.  I am looking forward to an exciting and productive school year!

Warmly,

Lori Sanford Sugg
