I moved to Wilmington in December with hopes of beginning my teaching career
and to live closer to my older sister. I have two wonderful parents, an
older sister, and a younger brother. My brother was the main reason I became
interested in becoming a special education teacher. He has taught me life
lessons in patience, diligence, and compassion.
I am originally from Trumansburg New York, a small town near Ithaca. As a
senior I volunteered in the elementary special education classroom and
quickly realized that teaching was my passion and a dream I had to pursue. I
graduated from St. John Fisher College with a Childhood/Special Education
degree. While at college I played 4 years of varsity softball as a catcher
and was the team captain for 2 years. I also worked in the President's
Office during my four years of college and was a member of the Student
Athletic Counsel and Peer Mentoring Program.
I am so excited to begin my career and Codington has been the perfect match
for me. The children are eager to learn, the faculty and administration are
eager to teach, and the parents are eager to support the schools efforts. I
am also coaching "Girls On The Run", and Assistant Coaching Ashley High
School Softball.
In the near future I plan to go back to college to receive my Masters Degree
in special education with hopes of expanding my knowledge of students with
behavior/emotional disorders, mental disorders, and special learning
disorders.
