In a recent e-mail from Mrs. Gagnon of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she announced

Congratulations, Sam! Students in our class alone did an excellent job, you had a great deal of
competition, but the honor is well-deserved.

Our second class spelling bee was held this morning with Tamsin, the last winner, as our mistress of
ceremonies. She did a wonderful job and awarded ribbons to Aislinn, 3rd place; Sam C., 2nd place;
and our ever-confident Keenan, the winner. Congratulations, Keenan!

Congratulations to all the members of our class who passed in their completed DAR essays today.
They are wonderful! I have no idea how judges will pick a winner, but I hope it will be one of yours.

Our class received a class star this week because of the outstanding way information was shared as
we work on our DAR essays. Hopefully, we will have a winner, but all are winners in the kind and
cooperative spirit shown to each other.

It was our pleasure to have a visit from Kaleigh Cronin, a former Smyth Road
student from this classroom. Kaleigh recently graduated from Carnegie Melon
University where she studied musical theatre. A great talent in singing,
dance, and acting, she recently accepted a part in the Broadway tour
of Jersey Boys. Kaleigh spoke with the class about making their dreams a
reality , answered their many questions, and ended with a duet of New York,
New York with Max. It was something not to be missed.

chosen for her work ethic and the kindness she shows to others.

We look forward to our annual Rock Across America concert very soon with the
following class members in bands:

Freedom Rockers: Sam S., Max, Jared, Keenan, and Kyle

For this project, students planned a cross-country tour for five cities and
Manchester, NH.

Paragraphs were written about the cities, and the route and directions were
planned.

The students used math skills to determine the distance travelled and the
price of the gasoline.

To all my former Smyth Road School fifth graders, I wish you a wonderful
school year. I hope you learn a lot and have fun doing it.

To my new class, I am eager to meet you all tomorrow. I look forward to a year
full of learning and fun.
