"Charlotte's Web"

runt - the smallest baby animal in a litter. Wilbur was called a runt
because he was small and weak and was not expected to amount to
       anything.

radiant - Someone who is radiant looks very healthy and happy. Wilbur did a
back flip and a half twist to prove to Charlotte that he was
          radiant.

gigantic - This word is a synonym for huge or big. Templeton became
gigantic when he started eating so much of Wilbur’s food at the
end of the story. He began to look like a woodchuck instead of a
           rat!

salutations - Salutations is a kind of greeting. Charlotte
said “Salutations!” to Wilbur when they met.

goslings - Goslings are baby geese. Remember when seven goslings were born
            in the barn?

litter - A group of baby animals born at the same time to one mother is
known as a litter. When Wilbur was born, he was part of a pig
         litter.

peered - Peered is a synonym for “looked”. When Wilbur was in his large,
wooden box early in the story, Fern would peer in, or look in, on
         him.

humble - Humble means not proud. Wilbur was humble and Charlotte wrote this
         word in her web.

vanished - When something has disappeared or no longer can be seen, it has
vanished. Wilbur would watch Fern’s bus every morning until it
disappeared, or vanished, around the bend.
