Tuesday, Nov. 3:  See Monday below. Also, read from the middle of page 120
through page 123 of your textbook. Copy and define the vocab words on these
pages into your notes. Answer the three checkpoint questions, as well as
question #3 on page 123. Due Monday, Nov. 9.


Monday, Nov. 2: If your family subscribes to the Sunday Star Ledger and you no
longer need yesterday's paper, I would appreciate getting any extra copies of
the front section you can spare. We will hopefully be blogging with Saif, who
is featured in the front page article on Iraqi refugees in New Jersey. No HW
today. If you did not present today, be prepared to present tomorrow.


Thursday, Oct. 29: 1) Everybody’s Voting for the Weekend due Friday – pay
special attention to question 5. 2) Both your character’s introduction and the
soliloquy for the Even Gods Have Bad Hair Days project are due Monday, Nov. 2.
 Each must be 2-3 paragraphs long, (from 200-250 words each), and typed,
double-spaced. Use the Ancient Greece websites posted on my TeacherWeb to
complete your research. Stay away from Wikipedia!  



Wednesday, Oct. 28:  1) Read pages 118-120 and record the defined terms in
your notes. Due tomorrow.
2) Greece Mapping Activity due tomorrow.

Mythological characters are assigned on a first come, first served basis. If
you do not contact me (by note after school on Friday or by email over the
weekend) so that I can confirm your mythological character selection, you will
be assigned a character on Monday. The project description as well as the
rubric are available on the Handouts page. Use the websites available on the
Ancient Greece Links page of this TeacherWeb to do your research.

exercise on the basic features that define civilization as well as complete

complete discussing the op-ed "Mind Over Muscle."



Tuesday, Sept. 29:  "Watch the News!" due Thursday. Tomorrow we will be
discussing the op-ed "Mind Over Muscle."



Friday, Sept. 25: 1) Read "Getting Out from Under Your Rock" and "The Op-Ed."

2) Read the op-ed "Mind Over Muscle" and answer the accompanying questions,
which appear on the back of "The Op-Ed" handout. Share it with an adult at
home and get their thoughts on the op-ed! Due Tuesday, Sept. 29.

3) "Watch the News!" due Thursday, Oct. 1. REMEMBER follow the guidelines on
the worksheet carefully: be sure to write your responses in complete sentences
and watch a national news show (not local news). Also, Fox News is prohibited
for purposes of this assignment.

and 5 inferences about the full floor residence at 995 Fifth Avenue.

Thursday, Sept. 17:  Assessment on Class Policies due tomorrow. If you did not
present today, you will present tomorrow.


Wednesday, Sept. 16: A-B-C Page due tomorrow. Prepare for your 30-second
presentation of your topic.


Monday, Sept. 14:  Your A-B-C Page from World History is due Thursday, Sept. 11.
A draft of the 3-5 sentence paragraph on your topic is due tomorrow. Remember,
the information you need for your assignment is available in your textbook.
You should put your sentences in your own words. This is a paragraph on your
subject.  No bullet points! E-mail me if you have any questions.


Friday, Sept. 11: Students will receive their textbooks today and should cover
them and keep them at home. For HW due Monday, see Thursday below.


Thursday, Sept. 10: Complete reading "8th Grade -- World History & Cultures"
course description and "Rules and Regulations: Blogs, Wikis, and Podcasts,"
which you received in class today. Give the two handouts to a parent at home
to review as well. If you cannot find your copies, the documents can be
downloaded from the Handouts page. Return signed copies by Monday, Sept. 14.
