You're the Archaeologist: Reasons for Decline

This website focuses on the issue of the repatriation of significant cultural
objects as well as Mayan culture and
history. Repatriation, which is the restoration of an artifact to the country
of origin, is a complex and not easily resolved
issue. Historically and culturally significant objects such as the Elgin
Marbles, Rosetta Stone, and the Maya codices (one of which is
located in Dresden Germany, a.k.a. the “Dresden Codex”), have been taken out
of their countries of origin and placed in museums, libraries, or private
collections in foreign countries far from where they originated.
