FAQ
How much homework will I have? Count on having some type of homework every night. If the class is reading/studying a novel together, you will be reading at least one chapter a night until the novel is completed. You will also be reading a book outside of class (2 per marking period). There will also be two writing assignments per month. Much of the homework is scheduled in advanced, which allows you to manage your time to your best advantage. You have one day per every day you are absent to make up work you miss (for example, if you are absent two days in a row, you have two days from the day you come back to school to make up the work). Can I hand an assignment in late? For most assignments, your grade is lowered for each day the assignment is late. If there is a particulary serious issue in your personal life that has needed your attention, I can often extend due dates for certain projects and assignements. Yes. There are several ways to receive extra credit: You may submit contributions to the Muse for extra credit. If it is accepted and published in the magazine, you will receive additional extra credit. You may also submit a letter to the editor of the Fanscotian. If it is printed, you will receive additional extra credit. Submissions to the Muse or the Fanscotian must be shown to me before you submit them. Also, at times during the year, I will announce that if you turn in a long-term assignment early, you will recieve extra credit. Lastly, opportunities will arise in the classroom to obtain additional information on a topic we are discussing. These are usually due the next day and can be completed via and internet search. you must turn a hard copy in to receive credit. When can I come to you for extra help? I am available every morning between 7am - 8am in room 152. I can meet with you during period 6 in my room. Due to staff meetings and SCN projects, I am not always available after school. However, if you stop by my desk after class, we can make an appointment for a time that is convenient for both of us. |
