Program Overview
The Bosque School drama program is designed to inspire the student who wishes
to develop a love and appreciation of the theatre. Classes are structured to
provide the student a basis in theatre skills, to offer a creative outlet, and
to produce well-rounded performers. There are two performances during the
year for the students to demonstrate what they have learned and to experience
the exhilaration of the interaction between actors and audience.
Course Structure
The first semester begins with a review of basic theatre skills. From there,
each grade undergoes a different course of study. Sixth grade students study
improvisation and script writing. Seventh grade students study mask, movement
and characterization. Eighth grade students study Shakespeare.
Assessment
Students’ grades are based on the following:
Participation/Presentation
Overall Effort
Written Work
Participation/Presentation
The participation grade includes, but is not limited to, participation in the
performances. It is mandatory that students attend their dress rehearsals and
their performances. Failure to attend either the dress rehearsal or the
performance will result in a reduction of 30% of the student’s overall grade.
The dress rehearsal and performance are both after school.
Effort
Students are expected to:
Have a positive attitude in class
Be helpful, and respectful of others needs
Not be disruptive in class
Be prepared with appropriate materials
Practice good listening skills
Engage with course curriculum
Homework/Written Work
Occasionally there will be written homework assignments. These assignments
are expected to be turned in on time. All work must be neat and organized.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated!
Materials
Students should bring the following materials to drama class:
1. A separate small three ring binder reserved especially for drama
2. Lined notebook paper for note taking
3. Pencils with erasers
4. A Highlighter (any color)
Students should bring any current scripts to class as well. Occasionally,
