Do students need to bring anything to Art Class with them?
Just yourself and your creativity!! Sometimes, Mrs. Schor will
ask students to bring something in for a special project.

Does my child need a smock for class?
The Art Room has lots of smocks! But if you want your child to wear
his or her own, then send in an old buttondown shirt from an adult
with the sleeves cut off at the elbows. Make sure their name is on
it and they can keep it in their classroom. Or if you would like to
donate old buttondown shirts to replenish the Art Room supply, I
would appreciate that greatly!

Will the paint the students use ruin my child's clothing?
I usually use tempera paint for most painting projects which will
come out of clothing pretty easy. If it looks like something that
won't be easy to get out, I will put stain stick on it. Sometimes we
may use acrylic paint with the older grades for a special project,
but the students will be warned ahead of time and will be offered smocks.
If acrylic gets on your clothing it does NOT come out if the paint
is allowed to dry! I also use black ink in a few projects along with water
soluble printmaking ink and water color. Sometimes the red and pink can be
stubborn to get out of clothes and will come out of skin after a good
soaking. It is ALL NON-TOXIC!
--------------------------------------
When will my child get their artwork back?
I usually display the artwork in the school hallways until a new
project is finished. Then the artwork is returned to your child to
take home. I hold onto at least one piece of artwork by every child
for the Festival of the Arts in May. In special instances, I will
also hold onto artwork for displays in Allsport Fishkill,in Laerdal where the
Wappingers School District offices are, or
in other display areas. I will send home a note to let you know
where
it is.
--------------------------------------
What is my child learning?
Easy question!! Just ask you child what artist, culture or artistic
concept they are learning about in class and they should be able to
tell you things like: what the artists' name is, what they did for
art, or how they stared or made their project! The district website
also has the New York State standards and Wappingers C. S. D.
Outcomes for every grade!
