| Hello Fourth Graders!
Fourth grade is full of big messy projects too! We are staring with a
self-portrait and moving onto a landscape inspired by the Hudson River School
of Artists. PARENTS! If you get a free weekend, go to Olana in Catskill to
see the home of Fredric Church and his mentor artist, Cole right across the
river! OR go to Samuel F. B. Morse's home on Rt. #9 ...he was not only an
inventor, but an artist too! Our Hudson Valley is FILLED with ART history!
Another project we will be doing is a Family origami book. We will learn how
to make a basic fold, that when many are glued together, folds out into a
beautiful book that we can draw portraits of all our family members in. We
will even draw our favorite things about them!
One project we will be doing is a self-portrait using the Helping Artist
Henri Matisse! We drew ourselves realistically and then went crazy
with the colors for our faces! We will be using OIL pastels which are
wonderfully bright and fun to use!
There will some more fun projects using clay and other materials and media
also!
