Bridge Programs are located at the following schools:
Oak Grove Elementary School, Susan Stillerman (Teacher)
Oak Grove Elementary School, Theresa Coris (Teacher)
Sheafe Road Elementary School, Barbara Rothman (Teacher)
The Bridge Placement Committee includes: Coordinator of Student Services, 3
Elementary Principals and 2 School Psychologists.
The Bridge program is designed for developmentally young children who need
an extra year of growth between kindergarten and first grade. It is not
designed for those students who have severe academic weaknesses or severe
behavioral problems. If children do not qualify for the program, other
distrit resources could be made available to them.
Children remain in the Bridge program for the entire year and upon
completion of Bridge he/she enters first grade placement for the following
year. Whenever possible children are placed in the school closest to home.
The maximum enrollment in the program is 45 students and classes range in
size from 12 - 15 students. The Bridge Placement Committee convenes every
spring and reviews student referrals from kindergarten teachers.
