Study Skills

Now that you are in high school it is extremely important to develop good
study skills. It is important to review material from EACH of your courses
EVERY day!! Re-write your notes from the day so that they are neat and
legible. Read through your notes, from beginning to end, every day. This
may just put an end to the late night cram sessions before a big test!

GET ORGANIZED. Have a separate notebook for each of your courses with pocket
folders to keep assignments that need to be completed, and assignments
already returned.

Keep an open communication with your teachers. ASK for help when you need it
and make appointments to stay after school or meet with them during the day
for extra help. Teachers cannot read your mind. If you don't ask they may
think you understand but just don't care! Remeber: The only dumb question
is the one that goes unasked!

Form study groups with your friends. Working together with others will help
you to remember the material better. You can devise little rhymes, phrases,
stories, or even songs to help you remeber difficult theories or formulas.
Try it - you might be surprised!

See your counselor to set up tutoring sessions with an Honor Society student
willing to help with certain subject areas. We have a list of students who
are looking to earn service credits by tutoring others.
