Willy Q's Chocolate Truth Cake
In our 6th grade reading class,
students read the novel, "All of
the Above" by Shelley Pearsall |

|
Making The Cake
It's about a group of middle
school students who, along with
their math teacher,decide to try
and break the world record for
creating the most paper
tetrahedrons. |
Measuring Ingredients
One of the students in the
group,Marcel, works at his
father's restaurant. Willy Q.,
Marcel's dad, bakes a cake that
his patron's love because it
makes them 'tell the truth' when
they finish eating it. |

|
The Recipe
Our reading class decided to make
the cake to see if it really does
make you tell the truth. |
Spreading the Icing
Willy Q. says that people feel
better after they eat the cake as
they start to let go of "the
truth" and talk over their
problems. |

|

|
Cutting the Cake
After making our own tetrahedrons
(pyramids with triangular bases)
out of paper, we got to eat our
chocolate truth cake. |
Eating the Cake
We love this book because it has
a little bit of everything....a
good story based on real kids,
recipes that we can try, and fun
math problems that go along with
the story. |

Boy was that good!!
After eating the cake, we started
talking about our own everyday
problems and found that Willy Q's
Chocolate Truth Cake really
worked. We felt better all around! |
