Greetings!
I updated the Spelling and Word of the Day. Please note that since there is a short week next week
the Spelling and Word of the Day will be for the week beginning December 1st. You will also note
that I put the next group of words for Word of the Day and indicated the test date. I know it is a
busy time of year so any jump starts we can get are helpful. I only ask that the children not hand
in assignments early. Thank you.
The children enjoyed our chalk experiment in class this week. They worked in cooperative groups
nicely and came up with a hypothesis together. They were sent home to write the conclusion, as I'm
sure you know. We discussed what makes a good conclusion as we shared in class. We have another
hands on activity planned that will help them measure and weigh using the metric system as well as
question, hypothesize, use variables, conduct an experiment and form a conclusion. I'm sure they
will enjoy it as well as learn a great deal.
I am calling on your help. MULTIPLICATION FACTS. Please help your child memorize the facts. It is
imperative that they do so. We are learning to multiply with multiple digits and they will struggle
if the basic facts are not mastered. I've started administering 5 minute fact drills. So far we've
covered 0,1,2, with no problem. The 3, 4 drills were a struggle for many. I am giving another one
on Monday - 3,4, and 5. You can go to the Math link on the left of this page and find
multiplication practice for the children. Some of the students have already done them and I hear
they are fun. I know my son enjoyed them while he was learning. Check them out!
Please remind your child to bring in the "Thanksgiving" letter on Monday. I'm very excited about
the letters and our upcoming Thanksgiving celebration. It is always nice to stop and appreciate or
show thanks for those closest to us.
Well, I have a fun filled weekend planned; I hope you do to. Enjoy your family!
God bless us one and all.
Mrs. Senno
