Dear Parents and Students,
It was lovely to meet you! I must say, I truly enjoyed it! Thank
you for laughing at the right times!

I sent spelling booklets home today. Please take a look, give a
compliment, and send them back on Monday. I am also asking for a $4.50

To My NEW 3rd Graders and their Parents,
Congratulations! You found me!
THANK YOU!! I truly appreciate all of your effort to provide the
children with the proper school supplies. We are off to a great start.
Today I also received all of the permission slips to send home the class
list of addresses and phone numbers. Great job, parents! I will send it
home next week. It was sweet to watch some of the children exchanging phone
numbers already!
This week we will be getting to know each other. It takes a little
time to adjust to new routines and procedures. Please DO NOT spend more
than 40 minutes on homework. If there is any problem, just jot a note to
me. The children need time to play, and may be tired at the start of the
school year. (I sure am!) It is especially important to build their self
esteem and make them feel confident, so they can feel comfortable and be
successful.
I have read Oh!The Places We'll Go and Chrysanthemum to the class.
We discussed the messages of these books and did some reading log examples.
We stressed that it is okay to fail as long as we try. Trying is the key to
success! We also discussed how to treat others kindly.
In math we have begun learning about graphs. Today we made a
pictograph about our second grade teachers.
Shortly, we will begin to learn how to use an atlas and read maps.
This week we will practice spelling words with medial short vowel
sounds. Have you heard our Old MacDonald song?
I look forward to meeting you at Back to School Night on Sept. 10th.
Have a wonderful day!
Mrs. Valenti
