SLT Minutes

December 1, 2008

 

Members in attendance:   Jennifer Behuniak, Corie Kirsch, Marilyn Johnston, Laura Leveque, Sharon Roe, Angelina Alvarez-Rooney, Meredith Stabe

 

1.    Minutes from October were approved.

 

2.    The Ice Cream Social went well.  We had 195 pepole at the first session and 180 people for the second session.  We made 490 dollars.

 

3.    The SLT plan was approved for updating the publishing company.

 

4.    Math Carnival:  Mrs. Betterton is in charge of Math Enrichment week.  We will be having the math carnival March 27th.

 

5.    Village Businesses

a.     Post Office:  All students have been trained.

b.    Bake Shop:  January 21st.

c.     Banking is going well.

d.    School Store:  There has been a little confusion on student scheduling.

e.    Advertising:  They will do advertisements for the Book Nook Book Drive.

f.       Book Nook:  They will have their annual contest to collect books in January.

 

Next Meeting will be January 26th.

October 20, 2008

 

Members in attendance:   Jennifer Behuniak, Corie Kirsch, Marilyn Johnston, Laura Leveque, Sharon Roe, Angelina Alvarez-Rooney, Meredith Stabe

 

1.    Minutes from September were approved.

 

2.    The Ice Cream Social will be November 10th.  This is the Monday before Veteran’s Day.  Sharon will do the lists and registrations.  Laura will get the door prizes.  Marilyn and Nancy can get the ice cream.  Corie will get the toppings.  Mrs. Stable will assemble the prize bags.

 

3.    Our SLT plan will be to pump up the publishing company.  We will purchase fun writing materials and other items to help students publish their writing.

 

4.    The Parent Survey will be out soon.

 

5.    Banking started.  There is not as many children this year participating.

 

6.    We will not be using bags at the school store.

 

7.    Mrs. Johnston will continue the bake shop and will ask Mrs. Sassano to continue organizing the bakers.

 

8.    Our next meeting will be Monday, December 1 at 3:50 in the library.
 

Oak Grove Elementary School

SLT Minutes

September 29, 2008

 

Members in attendance:   Corie Kirsch, Karin Milkins, Sharon Roe, Angelina Alvarez-Rooney, Meredith Stabe

 

1.    Minutes from May were approved.

 

2.    The Ice Cream Social will be Monday November 10th.  This is the day before our day off for Veteran’s Day. We will have only one ice cream social this year.  Our two sessions will be from 6:00 to 7:00 and 7:30-8:30.

 

3.    SLT Plan:  Mrs. Kirsch was thinking of making our plan about Writer’s Workshop.  Talking to the teachers and sending out a survey of what “dream” materials they would like to extend their student’s writing.  There was discussion of getting materials for publishing, blank books, blank big books, and binding materials.  Mrs. Kirsch will talk to the faculty at the meeting on October 7th and report back to us at our next meeting.

 

4.    Parent Survey:  The parent survey and village business application will go out in the next few weeks.  We need more parents for the village businesses and SLT membership.

 

5.    Businesses:

 

a.     Banking starts 10/8.  Mrs. Merrill will continue supervising this business but will train Mrs. Stabe.

b.    Book Nook:  The book nook will start 10/10 and Mrs. Milkins and Mrs. Charlebois will continue organizing this business.  Mrs. Milkins will run the advertising agency once a month on Fridays at the same time as the book nook.

c.     Post Office:  We are in need of a teacher or parent to help get  this business up and running.

d.    Bake Shop:  Mrs. Kirsch will talk to Mrs. Johnston to see if she is still interested in organizing this business.

e.    School Store is up and running.  We had discussion as to whether or not bags are needed to put the merchandise in for the students to bring home.

 

6.    Our next meeting will be Monday October 27th at 3:50 in the Library.
