Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is a week from today. How fast the
time does go. The children have been working very hard learning the story
of the first Thanksgiving. Ask your child who Ellen and William are (they
are the pilgrims) and who Squanto is (he is the Native American). The
children are also able to tell what the name of the boat that the pilgrims
sailed to Plymouth in. It is amazing how much information that they can
take in.
Today we made turkey toast. The children helped cut a turkey into toast
using a cookie cutter. They we spread apple butter over the turkey and then
they added a raisin for the eye and then fruit loops for the feathers. The
kids were surprised that they liked the taste of apple butter.
Just a reminder that Tuesday is our Thanksgiving feast. Please have your
child bring in their favorite food. This does not have to be something that
they have on Thanksgiving. Please send in enough for 17 children in the
morning class and 16 in the afternoon class. Remember that we can NOT have
any foods that contain PEANUTS OR STRAWBERRIES.
Dear Parents,
November will be a short busy month.
Tuesday, November 3 we will be setting up the pretend room like the
story of the Three little pigs. We will have a house made from straw and
one from bricks (I don’t have room for the house of sticksJ); we will also
have materials for the “pigs” to build their own houses. Come and join us
as we interpret the story.
Friday, November 7 we will not have school. The preschool staff
will have a professional development day. The older grades have an early
release on this day.
Tuesday, November 13 we will have a thanksgiving room in the pretend
area. We are going to be able to pretend to be some of the early settlers
and prepare a thanksgiving feast.
Parent teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 6 from
3:30-7:00 and Wednesday from 8:30-1:15 and Thursday3:30-7:00. There is a
sign up sheet on top of the lockers.
Picture retakes will be on Tuesday, November 11. If you want to
have your child’s picture retaken please bring in the picture packet from
before. We have not received the pictures yet, I know.J
NCS PTO meeting will be Wednesday, November 19 at 7 o’clock at the
ECC gym.
Thank you to all that supported our book fair. I love to see how
excited the children get when they are looking at books. Because of your
support the teachers were able to pick out books for their classrooms.
Just a reminder that you can check the Norwalk Catholic School
website to get up-to-date information about what is happening at all of our
campuses as well as what is happening inside our classroom. Visit us at
www.ncsweb.org.
Tuesday, November 25 we will celebrate Thanksgiving with a tasting
party. Please send in 17 (a.m. class) or 16 (p.m. class) a small portion of
your child’s favorite food. This does not have to be traditional
thanksgiving cuisine! We will set up our feast buffet style and encourage
the children to try new foods. Please remember that we have a peanut
allergy in our preschool so please do not bring anything that contains
peanuts. We have refrigerator space; a microwave is also available if
needed. We are asking a few of you to send in additional items for our
feast. If nothing is written on your letter, you will be asked for another
party!
