As I begin my eighteenth year in education I am happy to be the
Director at the Norwalk Catholic School Early Childhood Center. In my
previous years as a teacher I have worked with the very young (3, 4 and 5
year-old children), as well as junior and senior high school students. No
matter what the age of my students, one of the best parts of my work
is being with the children.
As I begin my second year as the Director, I bring 17 years of teaching
experience and over 26 years of parenting. I bring degrees and licenses that
have prepared me to begin this season in my life. As the Director I am
very happy to be able to work in cooperation with the parents, teachers and
other administrators in the Norwalk Catholic School system.
I have been married for 29 years to my husband Tom and we have three
children. Our daughter Mary is married to Adam Endsley and lives in suburban
Cleveland; she is a 1st grade teacher. Our son John has begun his first year
of teaching at Hilton Head Preparatory School in Hilton Head Island, South
Carolina as a 5th grade teacher. Our youngest son, Brian, is a sophomore at
the University of Cincinnati majoring in sports administration. All of our
children are graduates of St. Paul High School.
When I'm not working I enjoy reading, scrapbooking and walking. Tom and I
also enjoy dining out and attending sport events.
I consider my work to be ministry - not a job or a career. Working with
the children, parents, teachers and administrators is challenging at times,
but also a joy. As ministry, teaching and being an administrator becomes a
way to form community, share the Gospel and to help others grow as children
of God.
I have many hopes and dreams for the Early Childhood Center. First, I hope
that I may be a positive influence on the children, parents, and staff as we
work together to make these early years of school a happy experience for
everyone. I hope to do this by making the ECC a welcoming place and through
good communication. Another dream is that our school will reflect its
Catholic identity in all that we do and say. In the halls of the school hang
several pictures of Jesus with children. These pictures serve as a reminder
that Jesus loves all of us. As a staff, we meet together weekly for prayer
and we continue to teach prayers to the children as well as pray
at all times during the school day. I also dream that the Early Childhood
Center will be a place of peace as we help the children to grow to be all
that God wants them to be. The ECC is a great place that will grow
through hard work and many prayers.
