What We Learned This Past Week....
We learned about the Letter F this past week. The children worked hard on
their handwriting papers that were sent home, as well as their handwriting
books at school Using pictures, we discussed the progression of how frogs
grow from tadpole to an adult frog. One of the highlights each week is our
special alphabet snack. The children enjoyed fig newtons. Finger-painting
was a fun activity that the children enjoyed on Tuesday. We also did a
lesson on living and non-living things. The children were then asked to
identify pictures as living or non-living. Our Religion lesson this week
focused on sharing. We looked at the Seeds flyer as I shared the story of
the widow who gave all she had to God. We then made a list of how we can
share our gifts from God with others. The children gave some wonderful
ideas. On Thursday Mrs. Rospert traced the children’s feet and the children
measured them using linking cubes.
Learning Centers
I have introduced some new activities in our learning centers. The
woodworking center has tools for the children to use. We talked about the
importance of safety and how to use the tools properly. The children are
taking apart a broken DVD player and trying to repair it. The dramatic play
center has also changed to a transportation center, complete with trucks and
soft blocks for hauling and dumping. The children have also enjoyed the
train set in the block center.
The 50th Day of School
We will be celebrating the 50th day of preschool with Mrs. Jubak’s class on
Thursday,
December 3rd. We have some fun activities planned for the children in the
gym. The children may dress in “fifties attire” on that day. We are also
collecting food items for the local food pantry. We are hoping to collect 50
canned or boxed items. The children will then learn the quantity of 50 while
also helping others in need. Your donations are welcome anytime this
month.
Thanksgiving Party
Our class Thanksgiving Party will be Tuesday, November 24th. Parents and
Grandparents are welcome to attend on that day. Attached to this newsletter
is more information about our party.
Christmas Program
Our class Christmas Program will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at
10:00am. Your children will still need to arrive at school by 9:00 am.
Since this is a short program it will be held during school hours. Soon we
will begin preparations for our program.
Writing
Introduce your child to writing and drawing.
Praise their efforts.
They will be prepared for their schoolwork.
They will do it with pleasure.
