LANGUAGE ARTS NEWS:
READING:
TUESDAY'S READING: The little paperback will be in your child's folder.
Return it on Wednesday.
SOUND FOR THE WEEK: Long e spelled e and ee.
And we will learn about syllables with pattern VCCV such as pencil, mitten, letter.
BASAL READING: . You will read the story on Wednesday and work on fluency on
Thursday with rereading the same story. Your child should be able to read
the story without stopping to sound out words. It should be read smoothly and
with expression.
ENGLISH We are discussing singular and plural nouns.
SPELLING: We will have the spelling test on Monday, Dec. 21. You may want to
have your child try writing the words for you to check if he/she can spell
the words and write them correctly.
LIBRARY: Remember Wednesday is our library day.
RELIGION: We will continue to talk about Advent and also some about Christmas. I will be having the
children say the Hail Mary as a quiz on Friday,Dec. 18th. You might add it to their night prayers so
they say it every day.
MATH: We continue adding 2 to the even and odd numbers. On Tuesday, we will work on linear
measurement using our linking cubes to measure various objects around our room. On Wednesday,
we will be learning to write and spell the number words for the numbers 0-10. On Thursday, we will
talk about pairs of objects, like socks, shoes, mittens, etc.

Mr. Hanke's note came home on Friday, Dec. 11.
*Wednesday, December 23-First day of Christmas vacation.
