It is hard to believe that this is our last "regular" full week of school.  Next week, we will be walking to St. Mary's on Monday, then we will be going to PutInBay on Friday.  There is still a lot of learning to get to, though, so please help me out by reminding your child that school is not over yet!

Our AR computer is broken (permanently).  Students do not need to pass any certain amount for this quarter.  They may continue to take the tests (in other rooms) for their own benefit.

Students need to recite the May prayer (Hail Holy Queen) by the end of May.

Please be sure to send the St. Mary's  permission slip by this Wednesday.

 Math
We have finished our lessons on graphing (there were quizzes along the way instead of a final test).  We will be working on fractions this week--reading and writing fractions, equivalent fractions, then putting fractions into simplest form.  We will be having a quiz on Friday this week.

Language Arts
With our trip last week as well as the motivational speaker on Friday, we did not get quite so far in our Reading last week.  We will be reading "Sailing Home" this week.  We will take the test over the story on Thursday.
We will be discussing author's purpose further.  Before reading, we will try to predict the author's purpose.  After reading the story, we will then compare our predictions to the author's purpose. This quiz has been rescheduled for Tuesday.
We will be learning about superlativing and comparative adjectives this week.  A quiz is scheduled for Friday.
Free Writing -- none

Spelling-- syllables
3 times each in cursive due on Tuesday

Social Studies
We will be reading the last chapter which is all about our government--the three branches and their functions.  There will be a test over the chapter next Tuesday, May 25.  The study guide should be coming home on Friday.

Religion
We will be going outside on Monday to pray the rosary--I am so sorry that we weren't able to do that on Friday.  This is something I really do enjoy doing with the students so we will be sure to get to that on Monday (weather permitting--in case of bad weather, I have booked some time in St. Timothy's Chapel in the high school).
We will be discussing Pentecost this week as well.
