OSSM Sponsors a Summer Math Institute for Middle School Teachers
Math teachers! OSSM hosts a Summer Math Institute for middle school math teachers. The purpose of the Institute is to offer teachers the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of mathematics and to advance instructional skills. OSSM faculty and distinguished guests conduct the Institute. Activities include lectures, demonstrations, lab sessions and a field trip. The Institute will address topics relevant to middle school math curriculum as defined by the PASS objectives, as well as present enrichment areas such as contest math. We invite math teachers to be challenged, inspired and better!
The Institute will be held on the OSSM campus in Oklahoma City. Housing and meals are provided for teachers who wish to stay on campus. Meals are also provided for commuters. Workshop activities take place Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Institute concludes early Friday afternoon.
All teachers who successfully complete the Institute will receive a certificate of attendance and a $300 stipend. The certificate recognizes the desire to improve math education in schools and satisfy requirements for professional development.
