I attended an all-girls Catholic high school in North York (whoa! that
explains a lot!) and then went away to the University of Ottawa, where I
received by Honours History degree and my Teaching certificate. After
graduation, I taught for 7 years at St. Thomas Aquinas (in Brampton) before
coming to Cawthra in 1999. Over the years, I have taught French, English,
History, Geography, World Religion, Civics, Careers and Special Ed. I don't
see myself as a teacher of specific subjects, however. I teach students.
To that end, I am staff advisor to Cawthra's leadership and political action
club, known as LEAP. LEAP meets in room 207 after school on Thursdays.
I have a wonderful family--a super husband and two gorgeous kids. You can
see them on my photo page.
No matter which subject I'm teaching, my hope is that students in my class
will learn together in a positive, respectful, and safe environment. (While
maybe...accidentally...having a little fun at the same time.)
I want to challenge my students to:
--think for themselves and become better decision-makers
--understand that hard work can be rewarding
--question authority, while still respecting it
--learn how to advocate for themselves and others
--become informed, purposeful and active citizens
--become life-long learners
