DISCLAIMER: The links below are meant to be educational and to help you
develop your own, independant political views. I do not endorse all of the
views expressed on the following sites, and neither does the school or the
school board. My job is to help you find information on all sides of current
issues and to teach you how to question that information. Use your common
sense, be true to your own values and and decide for yourself.
Want to find a charity for your YPI project? Start your search here. Type
in what you're looking for--food bank, shelter, hospice, etc., and take it
from there. This is a large database of community groups, and not all of them
are charities. To see if the group would qualify, look at what it says on
their "funding" line. It should say something like "not-for-profit"
or "registered charity".

Well, you can't get much more local than your own school. Here's the link to
LEAP, Cawthra's very own political awareness and action club. We meet on
Thursdays...join us!

First stop: City Hall. Find out all about your municipal government, and
when you'll have your next chance to watch Hazel in action at a city council
meeting.

Here's a link to Hansard--basically a transcript of everything said by the
politicans at Queen's park. When you're working on the election campaign
might want to type in your issues as keywords in the search box and see what
you come up with.

My favourite protest group--the Raging Grannies!
(I fully plan to join these ladies once I have a few more grey hairs.)

Five minutes to midnight--a great site run by kids for kids. Kinda hard to
explain--it's like an on-line zine about youth and political issues.

So...you've found an issue you're passionate about and you're ready to take
action. Not sure where to start? Do you wish there was a manual? Well,
there is...

Looking for a place to volunteer, either for your 40 hours or your "Get out
there" project? Here's a great place to start looking.

Looking to find a protest to go to? Check this out. Click on "what's up" for
a listing of upcoming events. It's a pretty left-wing site, just so you know.

Here's another site for those looking for political song lyrics. It's hosted
by a radical left-wing group called OCAP, the Ontario Coalition Against
Poverty.

Here's the link to "Making the Grade." Click on audio links and you can
watch all the episodes that have been aired so far.

Here's the link to the University of Toronto's independant radio station,
CIUT.fm. Started in 1966, it has a long history of promoting "leading-edge
music and spoken-word programming." When you look at their schedule, take
note of the show "Alternative Radio." If you're tired of mainstream media,
it's refreshing stuff.

Here's the link to Ontario's Citizen's Assembly on Electoral Reform. They'll
deliver a report this spring, possibly recommending a change to the voting
system we currently use at the provincial level. If you're doing the
Crossfire project on Electoral reform, or if you're the Elections official
during the Mock Election, you should take a look. Click on their classroom
link and then watch the "Billy Ballot" animation.

The Premier's "Kid Zone" page is probably a little juvenille for most of you,
but this virtual tour of Queen's park is pretty cool.

This link is an excellent link for the YPI project. You can search by area,
keyword, etc.
