About the Council
The School Council has 21 members consisting of 12 parent representatives,
the principal, 2 members of the teaching staff, 2 members of the school's
business staff, 2 students and 2 community representatives.

Parents can nominate themselves to serve as parent representatives on the
council at the start of each school year. Self-Nomination Forms are
available May to September and must be submitted to the Principal by the
first Friday after Labour Day in September.

If an election for parent representatives is necessary, voting takes place
at the Meet the Teacher Night, held on the evening of the third Thursday in
September. Those elected serve a two year term and volunteer for the
positions of Chair, Vice-chair, Co-secretary and to serve on committees.

Representatives from the community are proposed by council members and upon
agreement, asked to serve on the council. Student represenatives are
provided by the the SAC (Student Council). Both teaching and business staff
reps are selected by the school's staff members.

The School Council (SC) serves as a policy advisory group to the Principal.
A separate parent organization The Friend$ of Cawthra Park Inc. (F$CP)
serves as the fundraising group for the school. Three times a year, the
School Council and the Friend$ of Cawthra Park Inc. meet together as the
Cawthra Community Circle (CCC).

All meetings are open to parent/visitors who can take advantage of open
question periods. (See the Calendar/Meetings section of this website)

All parents are welcome to attend the School Council meetings, whether
they are "elected members," or interested parents/guardians.
