FES GRADE 4 |
4B Homework4-B Class Information and HomeworkThanks to all of our parents who threw a great party for 4-B. Not only did we have a great Halloween party but everyone got to try some tapioca (a vocabulary word from a story and not to many seemed to know what it was) as well as some cranberry relish (big product in the Northeast and we got to watch a bog get harvested...live!). Thanks very much to everyone who took the time, energy, and talent to make it a wonderful party for everyone in the room. Thanks Dr. Bateman for a great program for all of 4th grade. The medical students from LECOM were all outstanding and I think that the kids had a wonderful experience seeing first hand some of the important organs of our various systems. MATH http://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com Chapter 4 is all about telling time. Any practice at home on elapsed time would be a great help. You are heading to practice at 4:30. Practice ends at 5:45, how much time has elapsed? Practice starts at 4:30, it takes us 15 minutes to get to practice. What is the latest we can leave the house. These are the kind of examples that would be helpful to you to practice with your child at home. Monday:
Tuesday : Wednesday:Thursday : LANGUAGE ARTS
Homework: Next spelling test is Friday, Nov. 13th. It is always a good idea to have a pretest with your child on Wed. night. This helps focus on the words that continue to need practice on Wed. and Thursday night. Spelling words are handed out on Friday and written into the assignment book. There is a week to study the list.
SCIENCE
GO TO THIS WEBSITE, CLICK ON SCIENCE, CLICK ON OUR BOOK, AND THEN CLICK ON INTERNET LINKS. THERE ARE REVIEW ACTIVTIES FOR EACH LESSON IN EACH CHAPTER. THIS WOULD BE A GOOD REVIEW FOR THE SCIENCE TEST OR AS A REVIEW AS WE COMPLETE A LESSON IN A NEW CHAPTER. What's Going On In Class: Vocabulary for Ch. 2 was handed out on Thursday and put in the take home folders. Our study of Chapter 2 is underway. We are studying vertebrate and invertebrate, life cycle and learned vs. inherited traits.
SOCIAL STUDIES: As we move into Chapter 4 (Ch. 4 map handed out on the 29th - test will be on November 17th) we will be studying our area of the United States. Any photos or materials that would be helpful to our students becoming familiar with this part of the country would be appreciated.
We will also be making some signs to express our gratitude to those who have served America. I would ask that they could maybe be displayed in your car back window or in your front door as a way to let veterans and those serving in our armed forces that we are grateful for all they do to provide us the life we have in America.
OTHER HOMEROOM INFORMATION: Specials: Day 1-Library, Day 2-Computer, Day 3-Art, Day 4-Music, and Day 5-Gym E-mail me at: jbrown@fairview.iu5.org I try and return e-mail the same day. If I am unable to get back to you that day, look for a response the first thing the following morning.
