MATH: Practice your basic math facts. We will be starting Chapter 5 "Multiplying One Digit Number." We are still reviewing our multiplication and division facts in class. SPELLING: Every week we will take a pretest on the weekly spelling words. From your pretest ,I will form a list of 15 words for each student. Study the words on your list for Friday's spelling test. Students words should be in the cover of their red take home folder. Words are also written in the weekly agenda books.

ENGLISH: Homework: We started learning about simple and complete precicates. The kids have a packet that they may bring home nightly, but be sure to return it daily. We will work through the concept each week that goes along with our story. Quizzes will usually be on Fridays. 2nd 9 weeks concepts... Simple sentence...one sentence Compound Sentence...2 or more sentences connected by and, or, or but Dependent Clause...a part of the sentence that can not stand alone as a good sentence Independent Clause...a part of the sentence that can stand alone as a good sentence Complex Sentences...a complex sentence is made from an independent and a dependent clause. Common and Proper Nouns...A common noun names any person, place, thing, or idea. It is always lower case unless it starts a sentence. A proper noun names a specific person, place, thing, or idea. It starts with a capital letter. Homework... none READING: We will be starting our next story entitled "How to Babysit an Orangutan" . We also reading an in class novel The Tale of Despereaux. Everyone should bring a quiet reading book to class. Book It has begun with the month of November. The kids are encouraged to read for 15 minutes Monday through Friday. They should have their monthly calendar in their agendas signed. I will check the calendar at the end of the month to reward with Pizza Hut passes. IMPORTANT REMINDERS...
Thanksgiving vacation will be from November 27th -December 1st. Adopt and Artist will be on Wednesday, November 26th. We will be learning about Gutzon Borglum. He created Mount Rushmore. Start to think of something that you would like to create with clay.
