District Technology Policy
The district has a technology policy that tells how the technology we have (for example the computers) is to be used.
Before being able to use the computers, each student must have a technology form on file in the library. Students who do not have those forms will not be permitted to use the computers. These forms must be signed by both students and their parents. Forms will be given to those students who do not have one on file.
Students can lose their computer privileges if they violate any part of the policy. Suspensions can be for anywhere from a week through the entire year.
Computer privileges will be suspended if the student:
-
Installs, deletes, or alters personal or copyrighted software without permission
-
Removes, changes, or damages the hardware settings without consent
-
Uses the computers in any malicious manner such as harrassment, discrimination or other anti social behavior
-
Uses the computers for personal reasons that are not school related. For example, accessing E-bay or East Bay or web sites of rock groups
-
Introduces virus programs into the computer system
-
Impersonates another student or uses a pseudonym
-
Changes the password of another student
-
Accesses the folder of any other student without that student's permission
-
Transmits any student information that is not that student's personal information
Copies of the full policy (814.1) are located in the library for anyone who wishes to have the full policy.
Disciplinary Actions for violating any part of the policy include:
-
Detention and/or in-school suspension
-
Out of school suspension
-
Suspension of computer privileges from one week to one year (depending on the severity of the offense)
-
Written record of the suspension and reason for it will be placed with the student's technology form
-
If equipment is damaged or destroyed, students will have to pay for the equipment
-
Letters sent home to the parents indicating the nature of the offense and how long the suspension will last
