Homework

The best homework for your child is to read to them everyday.
As you read, ask questions, such as:
Who are the main characters?
Why do you think this happened?
What do you think will happen next?
Students can also predict the ending of the story.
After you read the book, ask students if their predictions were correct.
If you are enthusiastic and show excitement when you read to your child,
your child will have the same kind of excitement about books.

Play rhyming games with your child at home. Choose objects around the house
and have your child come up with a rhyming word for it.

Talk about the four seasons with your child. Ask them questions such as:
What season are we in now? What season comes after winter? What season
comes before winter? What season is the hottest?

Wordless picture books are introduced to students in Pre-Kindergarten. Have
your child go through the book, telling the story as they see
it. Ask questions as you go along. This helps them to explain their
thinking. Wordless picture books are a great way to build and expand upon
your child's oral language skills.
