
11/9/09 Test signed. Study plot: conflict, rising action, climax, falling
action, and resolution. Test on Friday. Periods 1,2,4,5,and 6 need to
complete the plot of Young Ladies Don't Slay Dragons in their notebook.
Period 3 has a vocabulary worksheet.
10/26/09 Students need to complete their open-ended response. This is a
graded assignment.
10/19/09 Homework: Complete the compare/contrast passage "Going
Nuts" as a way of studying for the test. Test is on Tuesday.
Test Study vocabulary words from "The Fun They Had". Know
the words that signal a contrasting idea is coming. (Ex. "but", "however",
etc.) The test will include compare/contrast passages that the students
have not read before.
10/16/09 Students who did not complete their research on the decade of
their choice should complete it for Monday if they are able to access the
internet.
10/13 - 14/09 Classwork: Students who are absent need to complete
this work. Coach book pages 127 - 131. Test will be next week on
compare/contrast and on the vocabulary words from "The Fun They Had".
9/29.07 Test will be on Wed. (see below)
9/25/09 Test will be on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The test will
cover "Break A Leg" comprehension and vocabulary, vocabulary from "Seventh
Grade", synonyms, antonyms, prefixes,and context clues. Students also need
to be familiar with the terms idiom and irony.
9/22/09 Students need to have their first reading test signed by a
parent or guardian. This test needs to be returned tomorrow.
9/21/09 Complete the illustrations of their idiom. Continue to
review the vocabulary words from "Seventh Grade".
9/18/09 Worksheet on idioms. Vocabulary words will be on the next
test. Students should review these daily.
9/15/09 Students have one worksheet on context clues.
9/11/09
Students are to to read 15 pages of their library book and write
a brief summary (3 - 5 sentences) in their reading notebook. Please note
that studetns had a homework club period to work on this asssignment as well.
Test: Our first test will be on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009. The
test wil include comprehension questions from "Seventh Grade",prefixes that
mean not or opposite of: in, im, un, mis ,dis ,and using
context clues.
