TUTORING
The tutoring program usually begins in October, and I will post the
information as soon as I get it. Tutoring is held before school from 7-8am,
and after school 3:15-4:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

There is also peer tutoring available at Kennedy and the Elementary Center if
your child arrives at school by 8:10 and does not go to breakfast. Please
call or email me if you are interested.

We also have some PSSA Tutors to help students if needed.

Would you like to work with your child at home to help with their education?
Visit Mrs. Cormier's website and there are links to Compass as well as many
other websites to help your child with the learning process. Compass is
tailored to each child's specific needs.

Tips for Parents About Homework:
1. Have the child find a quiet place to do homework away from temptations
like the tv
2. Have the child do homework when he/she isn't too tired. Some students do
better if they play after school and do their homework after dinner. Other
kids are too tired after dinner. Parents should think about what time is
best for their child.
3. If the child gets too tired of sitting, have him/her try standing up for
a minute while reading.
4. Some kids learn better if they talk out loud and walk around the room
while they memorize things like math facts.
5. Have the child reward himself/herself for finishing homework (a snack or
favorite activity is a great way).
6. Sometimes students need a 5 minute break when doing homework.
7. Keep the child's book bag in a special place by the door so they don't
forget any items.
8. Parents can set a timer for their child when doing homework. For
example, if the timer is set for 10 minutes then the student knows he/she has
this amount of time to get it done. This helps the child to stay focused on
the task at hand.
