This year your child will be using the SRA Reading Mastery Plus program if
they receive reading instruction / intervention in the Learning Support
classroom. The program contains daily lessons that teach basic decoding and
comprehension skills. Decoding is taught through an explicit phonics method
that stresses letter sounds and blending. Students practice decoding by
reading word lists and stories, both aloud and silently.
Comprehensionactivities include answering questions about pictures, following
directions, and responding to a variety of questions based on the stories.
