Monday:  November 9, 2009

Read big book "Where Does the Brown Bear Go?" 
Isolate beginning sounds from story.
Phoneme short u  words using slate boards.
Read the decodable book "Muff's Bath".
Do practice book page 18.
Introduce new key words: gives/he/night/out/people/says/when/your.
Introduce the joining the telling part of a sentence (predicate)
Use sentences from transparency 25 to join sentences.
Do practice page 19.

Homework: Do practice page 17 spelling sheet and read "Muff's Bath". Sign and 
return.


Tuesday:  Novemeber 10, 2009

 Read poem "My Dog" and use the words to phoneme blend.  Focus on which word 
has the short u sound in it. Use slate boards to dictate short u words.
Do practice book p. 20 on short u.
Review key words: gives/he/night/out/people/says/when/your.
Find key words in context. Ask comprehension questions throughout story.
Read "Space Pup". p. 58-77.
Review telling parts for two things of a sentence.
Do language book p. 42.

Homework: Write a sentence for each key word.  Parents may assit with 
spelling. Student SHOULD remember capitial letter and period or question 
mark. Study for Vocabulary quiz Thursday. Read book "Space Pup"


WEDNESDAY:  November 11, 2009
NO SCHOOL - VETERAN'S DAY




THURSDAY:  November 12, 2009
Read poem "School Bus."  Segment 
words from the poem and do phoneme substitution with beginning sounds. 
Write sentences on the board for students to find short u words.
Read the decodable book "Buck Duck".practice page 21 the Vocabulary quiz.  
Review key words before quiz.
Give quiz practice book page 21.
Reread "Space Pup."
Review telling parts for two things of a sentence.
Do language book page 43.

Review key words. Read song "BINGO".  
Introduce syllable segmentation. Do short u and e.
Create rhyming words short u.
Build words using the ck pattern.
Complete practice book page 22.
Review key words and reread "Space Pup".
Review telling parts of two things a sentence and do language book page 44.

HOMEWORK:  Read "Buck Duck". Sign and return.



FRIDAY:  November 13, 2009

Review key words. Give end-of-selection quiz.
Revisit big book "Where Does the Brown Bear Go? Distinguish r blends.
Phoneme beginning and middle and end sounds.
Focus on initial blends with r. Do practice book page 23.
Reinforce the meaning of the key words.
Cut out and read "Do You See It."
Review telling parts of a sentence and do language book page 45.

Homework: Read "Do You See It?" to an adult.
