REMINDER:

MONDAY
* Schedule Booktalks
* Graded work will be returned/discussed.
* The Countess and the Impossible
1.  Students will review multiple choice responses;  Students will also 
review the open ended responses on the Smartboard.
* Word Study:  Prefixes #2
1.  Students will be introduced to new prefixes.
2.  For tomorrow, students will find two new words for each prefix, define 
and give the part of speech for each.
* Poetry Study:  For My Sister Molly
1.  Introduction to poetic elements (Smartboard)
2.  Students will read poem/discuss with the class
3.  Students will answer study guide questions;  questions not completed must 
be done for homework.
*  * HOMEWORK:
1.  Read for at least one half hour and twenty pages.
2.  Prefixes (see above)
3.  For my Sister Molly study guide questions
 
TUESDAY 
* Word Study:  Prefix #2
1.  Check homework (new words, definitions, parts of speech)
2.  Students will choose one word for each prefix and write a complete, 
meaningful, compound sentence (seven sentences total).  
3.  Quiz Thursday 
* Poetry Study:  For My Sister Molly
1.  Study Guide questions due today/review
* Writing Informational Essays
1.  Introduction to topic:  "Many students have personal goals, such as 
making the honor roll, playing a musical instrument, or being a top scorer in 
a video game.  To be successful in reading goals, it helps to have certain 
qualities.  Some of these might include self-discipline, determination, or a 
positive attitude.  Think about a goal that you would like to achieve.  In a 
well-developed composition, state your goal.  Describe at least two qualities 
you will need to reach your goal, and explain why each quality is important 
to be successful."
2.  Students will be introduced to a graphic organizer;  they will use this 
organizer as prewriting for their essay.  This is due tomorrow.
3.  Students will also review a guide that details the components of an essay.
* HOMEWORK:  
1.  Read novel for at least one half hour and twenty pages
2.  Prefix sentences due tomorrow
3.  Prewriting for informational essay
     
WEDNESDAY
* Word Study:  Prefix #2  
1.  Sentences due
2.  Study for quiz tomorrow
* Conflict
1.  Students are to discuss conflict (define, types of)
2.  Students will read the passage, "The Pizzeria" and complete the multiple 
choice and open ended response.  This assignment should be completed in class.
* Writing an Informational Essay   
1.  Students are to begin writing the first rough draft of their essay using 
the essay guide discussed Tuesday.
HOMEWORK:   
1.  Read novel for at least one half hour and 20 pages.
2.  Study for prefix #2 quiz 

THURSDAY
* Prefixes #2:  Quiz 
* One-hour writing share
* Conflict:  Students will review multiple choice and open ended response 
questions.
* Writing an Informational Essay:  Students will continue working on RD #1 of 
essay.  This assignment is due tomorrow.
HOMEWORK:  
1.  Read for at least one half hour and at least 20 pages.
2.  One-hour writing due Monday

* Writing an Informational Essay:  Prewriting/RD #1 due today
* SSR
* HOMEWORK:
1.  Read for at least one half hour and at least 20 pages every night
2.  One-hour writing due Monday
