Week of November 2 - 6, 2009

REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK:  

MONDAY
*  AR:  Students take AR tests for late credit.
*  Compound Sentences:  Students will take notes and complete together 
Compound Sentences WS.  Homework:  WS - Simple or Compound? (due tomorrow)
*  Propaganda:  Students will discuss fact vs. opinion, and be introduced to 
propaganda/persuasive techniques.  Homework:  Persuasive Techniques in Media 
chart (due Monday, November 9).

TUESDAY
*  Compound Sentences:  Review Homework:  Simple or Compound?  Students will 
complete together WS - Compound Sentence Review.
*  Propaganda:  Review types of propaganda introduced yesterday;  Students 
identify various types of propaganda through media (print and video). 
Introduction to propaganda project - students will develop an original 
product, create a print ad using one or more types of propaganda.  Students 
may work in pairs or individually.

WEDNESDAY
*  Library
*  Compound Sentences:  Students will review simple and compound sentences, 
and then write original sentences of both types.  Students should follow 
directions on WS and include at least 8 words in each sentence.
*  Propaganda:  Students will begin working on project introduced yesterday.

THURSDAY
*  Compound Sentences:  Review on board WS completed yesterday.
*  Propaganda:  Students may continue working on project which will be due 
Monday.  Reminder that the propaganda ad chart is also due Monday.   

FRIDAY
*  Library
 
ACCELERATED READER DUE DATES:
AR Test #1:  Friday, December 4, 2009
AR Test #2:  Friday, January 8, 2010

Reminder that a reading log and graphic organizer are due before taking the 
test.  Students will not be given class time to complete this paper work on 
the test dates.
