| ASSET Beaver County is now known as beaver County Science Alliance. It is
a science program that incorporates hands-on inquiry-based science in the
elementary classroom, K-6. It was introduced about 9 years ago in the
county and has grown since. There are currently six districts in the
county involved. Midland, Beaver, Center, South Side, Riverside,and
Ambridge are all part of the consortium.
Inquiry is the new buzzword in science. It means that we can allow
our children to think for themselves and come up with their own
answers! They need to be problem solvers!!
Hopefully in the next couple of years we will have more districts involved
in BCSA. The PA Science Standards have been approved and tests will be
given. This year's tests are scheduled for April 28-30, 2008.
