Goal: To increase the perception of family friendliness among families and community members by 10% per year at each school as measured by the District Family Friendly Survey beginning with the 2005-2006 school year.

Professional Development Plan (Steps or Strategies) to Support Action Steps: The Team who attended the Family Friendly Schools institute will disseminate the information learned and present it to the principals at Leadership Team meetings.

Each principal will then conduct meetings to analyze their current parent, family, community involvement and provide staff development for teachers to increase the involvement of parents/ guardians in the educational process.

Staff development opportunities will also be provided to enable educators and families to work together effectively as partners in the educational process.

Parent & Community Involvement (Steps or Strategies) to Support Action Steps: System wide parent advisory board will provide ideas, suggestions for increasing parent involvement and help developing procedures for obtaining input on policies.

Parents will provide input on each school’s annual parental engagement plans.  This information will be used to improve the effectiveness of family involvement plans and activities.
