Sight Words

What are Sight Words? Words that should be instantly recognized when seen in print 
("high frequency or Doltch words")

Rationale: Learning these words will help strengthen reading readiness skills.   

How to practice Sight Words:
 *memory game
 *Bingo
 *I spy....
 *flashcards

Sight Word List:

List 1: red, black, brown, yellow, green, purple, pink, gray, white, blue, orange

List 2: one, three, two, four, six, eight, nine, ten, zero, five, seven

List 3: a, at, is, it, in, of, the, and, to, I, on

List 4: my, she, you, can, saw, was, are, go, me, we

List 5:  eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen

List 6: sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty

Remember: Don't practice words in order- mix them up!

After mastering lists 1-4 your child will be able to check out classroom readers!
Lists 5 and 6 need to be mastered by end of year!
