This has been a fantastic December thanks to Salem's blessed combination of
enthusiastic staff, talented students, and parents who help make things work
even better here at school.
I've seen many Christmas programs over the years here at Salem, and this
year's was exceptional. As always, the band and handbells were excellent.
The drama parts were very well done. It was the middle-school choir that
stood out because of the difficulty of the song and the enthusiasm that was
shown in singing it. Great job. Our tech team this year is awesome.
Thank you parents for driving our students on our service project day. Salem
students, on a rainy day, delivered 1.000 outreach kits, caroled and played
the handbells at three nursing homes and HEB, and did a huge yard cleanup for
an elderly member. Our campus service groups sorted the food for TEAM and
then assisted staff in the areas of classroom, computer, tech, and
maintenance. Our students were exceptionally well behaved and represented
our school and their families very well.
And then the fantastic eighth grade Christmas party. Dad's were dressed in
black and whites and escorted the students and served the tables. Moms
prepared the food, did the decorations, and provided those extra touches of
love and care.
Now as you provide those extra touches of love and care for your family,
realize that your child is also such a blessing to Salem Lutheran School.

I first want to thank the eighth grade students for having the fewest
disciplinary slips of any middle school grade during the first quarter. I
also want to praise our students for representing Salem in such a positive
way at Concordia's Future Freshman Day and then on our field trip the
following week.
Finally, I want to remind everyone to reserve Friday, December 18 at Noon on
your calendar. Our Christmas party will be a great time of celebration.
These students will experience the best school party ever thanks to the hard
work of parents and staff.
God's blessings,
Larry D. Saalfeld
